What on Earth is Agile?

More than anything, Agile is a mindset. It's a way to approach every aspect of your business. It's not about having daily meetings, using Jira, creating beautiful roadmaps, or having roles like Scrum Master, Product Owner, Agile Coach, and others. Having all of these does not make you Agile. You might be Agile, but then again, you may not be.
So, what makes you Agile? It's where you focus your time and energy. It's spending more time creating meaningful relationships than spending time selecting an Issue Tracking Tool or debating whether to use Story points or T-shirt sizes. It's also spending more time building a self-explanatory and intuitive User Interface than creating hundreds of pages to explain how your product can be used. It's working with your clients, not for your clients. Being in the same team and understanding that you succeed if they thrive, not if you add more and more annexes and bullet points to the contract, aiming to be "100% covered in case something bad happens". Last but not least, it's being flexible enough to change your plan every single day. Which is easier said than done.
Are you Agile? Most probably not entirely, but that's okay. Nobody is. All that matters is that you follow these simple guidelines more than you did last month or last year. The differences might seem subtle, but they compound over time, and you'll transform your business.
Choose where you spend your time and energy. It defines whether you'll be successful or not!
